I have a long history with this show. I first saw the Lincoln Center production with Alfred Drake as a teenager, then appeared in a production as The Wazir. It is certainly operettaish in style, no surprise there considering the adapters, Wright and Forrest. I have no idea if you will like it or not, most people I know feel strongly about it, love it or loathe it. If you do get to go, I hope you enjoy it.

In high school orchestra, we played the Polovetsian (sometimes transliterated as Polovtsian) Dances Suite from which much of the music of Kismet is drawn, so when I first heard the OBC, it was both a pleasure to hear those familiar melodies with lyrics, but also a bit of a "clang," having thought of the music as quintessentially Russian! So, many layers of cultural complexity.
