| Her performance as Tina Turner ranks up there with some of the best I’ve ever seen, including Tina Turner herself. But this pussyfooting about how long she’ll be playing the role (which she’s been doing a long time) is a complete turnoff. It’s landing as self-important. At least to me. I’ve been excited to see her play the role again (despite what is easily one of the worst books that have ever appeared on Broadway) — but I’m suddenly less so. And maybe it’s just best the show proceed without her. Jesus, just announce a final performance date. |

| 20 years ago I was the web person for a Broadway performer's website. This performer was the standby to the star. Even though this performer knew the performances that the star would not be doing, this performer was told not to say anything publicly about the performances that this performer would be performing. By inference being that performer performing means that the star is not performing. The producers did not want to jeopardize ticket sales. |

| Completely agree about both Warren and the book. She was truly spectacular -- I don't know how anyone could do that role one time a week, let alone six. I'm sure there are other women who could do the part justice, but Warren was a wonder. As for the book, if you listened closely, you could actually hear it sucking, even over the amplification of the music. |

| In the interview, she says “I will be spending a lot of time helping to get everybody ready for me to leave. The show doesn’t need me. Contrary to what many people think.” | |

| I think it's a safe guess that the pussyfooting is not her choice, but is required by the producers and publicists until they announce future casting and dates. I think it's also safe to assume that they want her to win the Tony and will announce her departure after the awards. I wouldn't point the blame in her direction. | |

| Maybe she's back to get the show up and then the producers will seek a suitable replacement. That would leave her with unknown timing and not a lot she could say about it. | |

| If they announce a final performance date it may slow advance dates. The only good thing I have heard about this show is her performance so I wouldn't want to see it without Adrienne. Maybe they worry the word is out that she IS the show? | |

| That actually helps explain why they’ve never announced a performance schedule. The sense was that Warren played the evening performances, but there were a few exceptions to that that led to some frustration for ticket holders hoping to see her. A quick look at Ticketmaster shows that there are ample tickets available (except for the first one back, which appears to be sold out, save for a smattering of hilariously over-priced resale tix). This undermines the theory a bit. But not completely. If she’s actually leaving, best get the new Tina out there now. And maybe that’s what Warren is trying to get them to do. But, this game-playing about weeks or months is just too much. I have tickets to see the show on re-opening night and then again a month or so later — now I’m fearing that later date will have a Tina replacement. |

| For what it's worth, a friend saw TINA in London at the beginning of August and raved about Chanel Haynes in the role. | |

| I’ve seen Adrienne and Nkeki, and I honestly felt that Adrienne was much more effective as young Tina while Nkeki was much more so as older Tina. I would like to see a performance with Adrienne in Act I and Nkeki in Act II. In a perfect world. | |
