| I wonder who the original cast member is who was offered a role in the movie but turned it down. And why? And if it was the same role they played on stage? | |

| Mike Faist. Here's a quote from a recent NY Times article... | |

| Why aren’t you in the upcoming “Dear Evan Hansen” movie alongside your former co-star Ben Platt? I feel like I couldn’t do it. I started that when I was, like, 21, and was with it for five or six years. When you’re doing eight shows a week, it very much turns into relying on your technique and the job of it. And the show was such a zeitgeisty thing. It really took a lot out of me, and I didn’t really have it in me anymore. |

| I wonder if it was Mike Faist? They ended up casting Colton Ryan as Connor, so that makes me feel the role was reserved for a stage actor. West Side Story was filming in summer 2019, so maybe Mike didn't want to do two movie musicals back to back. | |
