I would actually argue that "The Barber And His Wife" isn't really a song - or certainly a very unfinished one if anything. More of a fragment that becomes one of the musical/textual themes in the show.
Indeed, "Poor Thing" (with its intro which is a repeat of the "Barber/Wife" theme) seems more like a true complete story song. |
