I guess I was not clear enough in the part that S/F responded to either. I did not intend to understate the risk of spread but to compare the risk in the two places. I don't think it is controversial to say that the data shows that vaccination reduces risk of both infection and, a fortiori, spread, and the relative numbers in Saint Louis County and New York County bear that out. What I was trying to emphasize (and apparently was unsuccessful) was the relative risk, but I thought I had been reasonably clear that "the same thing could certainly happen to a Broadway show." And I am guessing (someone correct me if I am wrong) that mask compliance is lower and other protocols (e.g., vaccine requirement for theatre, indoor dining, gyms, etc.) are also lower or non-existent. I am not at all trying to suggest complacency in NYC, but simply to explain that the data makes it a lower risk place to invest huge sums of money in making theatre. |
