Nederlander and Tali Pelman, in association with Tina Turner, announce that Best Musical Tony Award nominee TINA – THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL will star Nkeki Obi-Melekwe in the title role beginning Tuesday, November 2, 2021. An original Broadway cast member, Nkeki Obi-Melekwe played Tina in the West End production and plays Tina at certain performances in the Broadway production.

Two-time Tony Award nominee and Olivier Award nominee Adrienne Warren will depart the production on Sunday, October 31, 2021, due to other commitments.

Nominated for 12 Tony Awards, TINA – THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL will reopen at Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street) on Friday, October 8, 2021.

This new musical based on the life of legendary artist Tina Turner and presented in association with Tina Turner herself, received its world premiere in April 2018 in London, where it opened to five-star reviews and has broken box office records at the Aldwych Theatre. In March 2019, the German production opened at Stage Operettenhaus in Hamburg, and the Dutch production opened at the Beatrix Theater, Utrecht, in February 2020. A third European production is due to open at the Teatro Coliseum in Madrid, Spain in Fall 2021.

Tina Turner is a 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominee. She was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 as a duo alongside Ike Turner, but has never been inducted in recognition of her solo work.

VACCINATION POLICY
Last updated and effective as of July 30, 2021. This vaccination policy is in effect for performances now through October 31, 2021. For performances in November 2021 and beyond, we anticipate a review of policies in September, and may include a relaxation of certain provisions or an extension of this policy as the science dictates.
Guests who wish to enter any of the NYC theatres owned and/or operated by the Nederlander Organization, Inc. including the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, will be required to follow the vaccine policy herein.

To be permitted to enter a Theatre, guests will need to be Fully Vaccinated (as defined below) with an FDA or WHO authorized vaccine. Evidence of the vaccination will be required at the time of entry along with a valid ticket for the show playing in the Theatre. Other health & safety requirements may be required in addition to the vaccine. See further details on the Health & Safety Protocols.

“Fully vaccinated” means on the day of the performance date as shown on the valid ticket, a guest is:
at least 14 days after their second dose of an FDA or WHO approved two dose COVID-19 vaccine, or
at least 14 days after their single dose of an FDA or WHO approved single dose COVID-19 vaccine.

Proof of vaccination must come directly from the healthcare provider that performed the vaccination. Guests may display proof on a smartphone or present a physical copy. New York State residents, or anyone who received a COVID-19 vaccine in New York State, may present proof through the use of the Excelsior Pass (for more details, visit: epass.ny.gov) or any other CDC-approved digital app.

The only exceptions are:
guests under the age of 12, who must be accompanied by an adult that meets our Theatres’ vaccination requirements; or
guests who need reasonable accommodations due to a medical exception or a sincerely held religious belief

For guests who are not able to be vaccinated for one of the reasons listed above, they must provide proof of one of the following instead of evidence of vaccination:
negative COVID-19 antigen test taken within 6 hours of the performance start time, or
negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of the performance start time.

Together with the proof of vaccination, all guests 18 years or older must also present a government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license or passport. Guests younger than 18 may use a government-issued ID or school ID. Guests under 12 must be accompanied by an adult who meets the above requirements.
Entry will be denied for guests who do not provide the documentation as required above.

MASK POLICY
Masks are required for all guests, regardless of vaccination status. Masks must be worn at all times while visiting the Theatre except when eating or drinking in designated areas. All masks must completely cover the nose and mouth and comply with the CDC guidelines for acceptable face coverings.

Recognizing flexibility is key in our guests’ return to Broadway. As a result of COVID-19, Nederlander is implementing an exchange and refund policy for guests of all of its venues in NYC. This policy will provide flexibility in the event a guest may be unable to attend a show due to illness, travel restrictions, or any other circumstances. Our guests may feel confident purchasing tickets in advance knowing this exchange or refund policy is in effect if they cannot attend the date and time originally purchased. When you request an exchange or a refund, the request will be approved with no questions asked and no additional service fees assessed provided the request meets the terms and conditions outlined herein. The performance schedule for TINA – THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL is as follows: Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm and Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 8pm, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 3PM. BIOGRAPHIES

ADRIENNE WARREN (Tina) received rave reviews and a Tony nomination for her star-making performance as Tina Turner in Broadway’s Tina – The Tina Turner Musical. She received the Drama Desk, Antonyo and Outer Critics Circle awards for her iconic performance.

Warren originated the role in the West End, where she picked up Olivier, Evening Standard and Joe Allen Best West End Debut nominations. She also originated the role in numerous workshops of the show, working hand-in-hand with Tina Turner herself to embody the titular role. Previously, Warren earned a Tony nomination for her performance as ‘Gertrude Saunders/Florence Mills’ in the Broadway production of Shuffle Along opposite Audra McDonald.

Most recently, she just wrapped filming of the highly anticipated limited series for ABC entitled “Women of the Movement,” in which she stars as Mamie Till-Mobley. The series, produced by Jay-Z, Will Smith and Aaron Kaplan, will premiere early next year.

Warren is also a co-founder of the Broadway Advocacy Coalition (BAC), which empowers the community to actively participate in the fight for social change: https://www.bwayadvocacycoalition.org/. BAC will be receiving a Special Tony Award in 2021.

NKEKI OBI-MELEKWE (Tina) is currently making her Broadway debut as the iconic Tina Turner in Tina - The Tina Turner Musical after drawing rave reviews for her portrayal in the West End production. Nkeki can be heard as the new voice of Audi. She previously appeared in Alice By Heart (MCC) and Half Time (Paper Mill Playhouse). TV credits include “Bull" (CBS) and “Smilf” (Showtime). Nkeki is a graduate of the University of Michigan.
