portenopete, what you're saying is very true. A lot of that initial thrill is from the excitement of that first connection. The times I have found future showings to be almost (but not quite) as thrilling are when the plot takes twists and turns, and a re-watching helps see how the seeds are laid beforehand. Before I first saw Wicked, I thought it was a true prequel and that the storyline would not overlap with the movie, so I was not expecting the plots to start converging. And August: Osage County has many twists and turns, and a re-watching led to a better understanding of them.
