I saw the movie yesterday. It took awhile to get to the roller coaster last half. I see that the play only has 4 male characters. The movie brings in the daughter and divorced mother which I do think help with the emotional impact of the second half—but I’m just guessing since I didn’t see the play. It took awhile to get into the plot since the movie spends a lot of time with the female characters, but it is very good by the end. Too bad it’s bombing at the boxoffice—it started on Friday and tomorrow is last showing in San Fran—not even Thursday showing.
I came home and watched hope gap in dvd—based on play retreat from Moscow—another play I didn’t see. That movies isn’t nearly as good as small engine repair. Although Annette bening and bill nighy are terrific.
