We all know how (we) liberals ring our hands over the 1%, over income equality, how the 1% pays no taxes etc etc, they have 6 homes and 5 cars, and boats and airplanes. . And yet after 18 months of closure of almost everything, here is the Met Gala where the 1% (and their fellow travelers - mostly of liberal persuasion) swan about in zillion dollar evening wear, displaying the very excess that we like to
deplore. For what? So that those of us who don't qualify can revel in their wealth and privilege? Granted, in the heydey of Hollywood and Broadway, there was the glamour quotient, and magazines etc promoting the incredible fashions and hairstyle of men and women in entertainment. Tickets are $30,000 - last year they raised $13 million for the Costume Institute at the Met, at the Gala., Fair enough. But it is an evening of very privileged people, very expensively dressed, parading about to share their privilege with each other, allowing mere mortals to gawk. With a huge majority of liberals behaving like zillionaires on the other side. I get the fact that without the ability to walk the rd carpet and rub elbows, this same group of folk would not donate $30,000 each to the Costume Insititute - more's the pity. It just doesn't sit well with me. Maybe its just me. And thats fine!
