I think most of the whole score is gorgeous. "As Once I Loved You" is another standout. I highly recommend the OBCR. It's only by the standards of peak Richard Rodgers that it can be found at all wanting. Compared to the majority of musicals written since 1976...
And, yes, Harnick's lyrics are nothing to be dismissed either. |
