I don't think it's an accurate description of Tripp as depicted so far in the TV series. She is a terrible person, no doubt.
She is overweight, but I don't see her appearamce as slovenly: she's not unkempt or sloppily dressed. It's often a term overweight people get simply for being overweight.
Just a poor choice of words in my opinion, and not a big deal.
