For the “re-opening night,” each company member threw handfuls of rose petals in the air during their bows at curtain call, and audience members were given a rose on leaving the theater - maybe that’s the “surprise” that was alluded to?
As for revisions - I have some friends involved with the show, and word is that things got a general spruce-up - I heard some ensemble members had new costumes designed, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the scenery & lighting elements were slightly modernized. There was a conscious effort to make the show feel “new” again. |
