| Fully agree. The film has a 37%, after falling to 33% last night. The movie's reviews are not falling into two camps, i.e., those who saw the stage iteration don't seem predisposed to admire its adpataion. Many who saw the stage version find that the camera scrutinizes plot holes. This is a case of enough criticism to go around (handling of suicide, elevation of unsympathetic, near-antagonist into antihero, shallow treatment of neurodivergent adolescents, etc.) The movie will either work for a mass audience or it won't. |
