I guess I'm confused.

Until reacquainting myself with "the season" this weekend in anticipation of the awards (May 2019-Feb 2020), I realized how much of it I'd completely forgotten – for example, the 5 nominees for "Best Score" are from 5 non-musical plays that all ran between 2-3 months and in most cases closed nearly 2 years ago.

I've gotta say, and no disrespect to the composers of that incidental music, but with specifics and circumstances like that, it's a wonder that a broadcast network or major streaming service is producing and presenting these awards at all, in any form, rather than just letting them get relegated to something iike the Antiques Roadshow Network – they've paid for the rights to them and have aired them for over half a century, and they're allowed to partly monetize them however they see fit.

This has obviously been such a strange year – hopefully this experiment is a one-off, an anomaly, that will then allow things to go back more the way they used to be at the Tony Awards in summer 2022 or 2023.
