| I haven't seen any interviews with actual Tony voters this year. I guess the NYT is not doing theirs, which also shows how little interest there is in who is winning. Putting aside the merits of the shows, Moulin Rouge is an eye-popping spectacle, and I think the voters are going to want to remind the tourist audience that Broadway can deliver that. I don't think they want to feel out of step with the times, though, which is why I think Slave Play will win. I think Moulin Rouge and Slave Play as Best Musical/Play are exactly the message that the Broadway League wants to send. |
