''Slave Play'' made Tony history when it scored 12 nominations - the most earned by a play, beating out 2018's revival of ''Angels in America.''

And last night, ''Slave Play'' went 0 for 12, making it the biggest loser among plays, beating ''Indiscretions,'' which went 0 for 9.

GoldDerby.com, Variety, Deadline.com, TheaterMania, etc., all predicted ''Slave Play'' would take Best Play. Because it was about race, sex and interracial relations, it seemed very topical, and its author, Jeremy Harris, had a high media profile. Apparently, the producers of ''Slave Play'' also expected a big night for their show. It had been leaked earlier in the afternoon that ''Slave Play'' would be returning to Broadway for a limited engagement at the August Wilson. Had it won Best Play, no doubt Harris or one of his producers would've announced this on-air.

Harris tweeted that he's grateful his show ''inspired thousands of people who didin't care about theater before'' and ''history was made in spite.''
