| I fully agree with your assessment of why The Inheritance won, and posted similar thoughts before reading yours. Slave Play was not loved by all audiences, or all artists of color. As my friend - a black female playwright produced all over the country - noted: "it's insulting to presume we'll fall in behind it simply because of its subject." She disliked the play for myriad reasons, and wrote about twice in social media. I trust what she said, and suspect it's more widespread than people know. |
