| This post by Mikey is exactly correct. The Inheritance moved me in a way that Slave Play did not. Slave Play (well the first act of it anyway) engaged me intellectually; The Inheritance both intellectually and emotionally. Slave Play was a wonderful ride for its first half but the second act I found tedious and repetitive (until it redeemed itself, somewhat, with a great final scene). But I thought The Inheritance was more ambitious, more literary, and weightier. I’m pleased that Lopez won. Overall, these are both flawed but fine plays. |
