After Marriott, according to Playbill, Jones & Schmidt did have the rights for a Broadway production. Lansbury, Hepburn, and Martin were all considered for the stage manager. The score was actually played for Martin and she liked it. However, she was diagnosed with cancer shortly afterward.
Isabel Wilder eventually withdrew the rights. Nevertheless, when Isabel passed away in '96, Tappan Wilder later that year restored the rights to Schmidt and Jones. I'm not exactly sure what happened after that. |
