Neuwirth was originally announced to play Sabina in OVER AND OVER in the 1999 Signature production. It was, if I remember correctly, her first major role after making such a splash (and winning a Tony) in CHICAGO. I believe she left during rehearsals and was replaced by Sherie Rene Scott.
Scott and Neuwirth are such different performers that I wonder what the story was there. Maybe the role was originally supposed to be much more dancey than it turned out to be and Neuwirth wasn't interested in continuing. |
