I just responded below and won't repeat anything.

Regarding still open, I think generally (meaning pre-covid obvs) there are few plays that are not about to close. (It's the rare play that runs through the summer.) It is also the rare play that is not bleeding money. So it becomes a packaging issue if you have one play that is in a position to utilize airtime. (I do think that we sometimes get an exception to the rule for some of those, but I don't feel like bothering my brain to come up with an example right now. Not to mention that I suspect you know the examples. :-) )

Regarding the short shrift for musicals that HAVE reopened or are about to, I'm on the same page with y'all.

ETA: First, "below" = "above" :-) Second, I think regarding the short shrift, I had another thought which is that it could well be that some/many productions declined. Money is tight, and the prognosis is guarded. Not everyone would dig down deep to do something.
