Some things I noticed about the Tonys:
- A Christmas Carol won the most Tonys (5) of any play but was not nominated for Best Play or Revival. Has that ever happened before, on either the play or the musical side?
- Rob Howell won for both Best Scenic Design of a Play and Best Costume Design of a Play for A Christmas Carol. He also won the same two awards at the last Tonys for The Ferryman. Tommy Tune also achieved this double-double in consecutive years, winning Best Director of a Musical and Best Choreography for The Will Rogers Follies and Grand Hotel in 1990 and 1991. Hal Prince almost did this. He was nominated for both Best Musical and Best Director of a Musical in 3 consecutive years for Company, Follies, and A Little Night Music, but he lost for Best Musical for Follies and Best Director for A Little Night Music.
