Someone decided to enact the play "Art" for real -- it's in the news

An artist hired to do paintings for a museum returned blank white canvasses, entitled them "Take the Money and Run" (which, btw, is the title of a Woody Allen film about an inept robber), and the museum wants its money back! The artist is claiming he has created "conceptual art".
Link "Art" indeed!

Seems more of breach of contract than subjective art

He was hired to recreate two sculptures—two blank canvases don’t qualify as sculptures but who knows what the court will interpret the language.

They've said that if he returns the money by the end of the exhibit, he won't be in breach. Will be curious to see what happens with it. If he returns it, it's actually quite clever!

That's funny. However, my recollection (from 23 years ago) in the play is that the painting is not just a blank canvas. It's actually painted white and there are either brush strokes or fine lines on it. At one point Serge states that he can see color in it (although that may be wishful thinking on his part).
