Yes, I think the producers were hung up on some "all the numbers on CBS have to be duets" nonsense. I think that's why Hairspray and Jennifer Holliday, two of the best numbers all night, were relegated to streaming only.
My guess is they asked a LOT of classic Broadway pairings, and the ones we saw were the people who said yes. |
