Quinton Johnson and Julia Riew. Based on a treatment of the Lewis Carroll story by David Coffman and Linda Chichester, the readings (by invitation only) will take place at the new Amas Studio (630 Ninth Avenue - Suite 1205) on Monday, October 11th at 3:00pm and 6:00pm and Tuesday, October 12th at 3:00pm. When Rabbit suddenly emerges from the screen and offers her an escape from reality, Alice takes the leap - and lands in her own virtual world. To win the game, she must level up until she can confront the Queen of Hearts and save Wonderland from the clutches of oppression. Directed by Stephanie Klemons with Music Direction by Mona Seyed-Bolorforosh, the cast features Celeste Castillo (In The Heights - OK) , Jonathan Grice (Big River - NC), Alina Fontanilla (Spring Awakening in Concert - 54Below), Matthew Kennedy (Bring it On), Ashley LaLonde (The Black Clown - Lincoln Center), and Daniel Quadrino (Wicked, Newsies - Bway). The stage manager is Monique Bernier. "Having had such a wonderful experience with our virtual production of Hip Hop Cinderella produced during the height of the pandemic, we are looking forward to being back - live and in person - with this new treatment of another classic children's tale," shares Donna Trinkoff, Amas' Artistic Producer. "The development process of new musical works is always exciting." These presentations are part of the ongoing Amas Musical Theatre Lab, a development series for writers, lyricists and composers to mount public readings of their new musicals. The Lab is supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature, and by Actor's Equity Association Foundation, BMI Foundation, Butler Tibbets LLC, Nancy Friday Foundation, Howard Gilman Foundation, Marta Heflin Foundation, Lambs Foundation, Lenox Hill Hospital, Lucille Lortel Foundation, and through the support of many individuals. Bios J. Quinton Johnson (Book, Music & Lyrics) (jakeÜ) is a multi-disciplined creative artist, educator and professional super fan who is redefining what it means to make musical theatre. Throughout his career, he has sung Hamilton with Sydney Lucas, shared an Uber with Joshua Henry, hugged Lin-Manuel Miranda (twice!), beatboxed and freestyled with James Monroe Iglehart, gotten ice cream with Nicole Scherzinger and Jennifer Lopez in the same night, was a rehearsal pianist for Brandon Victor Dixon and Mandy Gonzalez (moments before a performance of Hamilton), has shaken hands with Keegan-Michael Key, had Fran Drescher sit in his lap (omg grow up it wasn't weird), carved a turkey with Bryan Cranston, once made Steve Carell cry and even shared a sharpie marker with the legendary Cicely Tyson. And I write songs and stuff. He! I mean he writes songs and stuff. This is his big fancy manager writing his bio and not Quinton in disguise… Julia Riew (Book, Music & Lyrics) is a Korean-American composer-lyricist-playwright from St. Louis and NYC. At Harvard, she pursued a joint-concentration in Theater, Dance, Media (TDM), and Music, studied songwriting under Grammy Award-winner Esperanza Spalding, co-founded the Asian Student Arts Project (a community created to provide the resources and support for Asian student artists), and received the 2020 Radcliffe Doris Cohen Levi Musical Theater Prize. Her original work has been featured at the American Repertory Theater, Harvard University, the UNC-Greensboro School of Theater, Nora Theater Company at Central Square Theater, the University of Missouri, and the Community Music School of Webster University. Recent musical credits include Jack and the Beanstalk: A Musical Adventure (A.R.T., 2020), Thumbelina: A Little Musical (A.R.T., 2019), and The East Side (Harvard University, 2018). Linda Chichester (Story Adaptation) Cofounded Hip Hop Musicals.com whose productions include Hip Hop Cinderella, Hip Hop Frankenstain and Alice's Wonderland and is a BFA graduate of Hofstra University and CTI Commercial Theater Institute Seminars. A member of Women in Music, Linda has shepherded the development process of various musicals through readings, workshops, productions, and raised financing. Conceived and produced the Latino Off-Broadway musical 4 Guys Named José, conceived and produced the musical Blackbirds of Broadway at the National Alliance of Musical Theater Festival and played regional theaters across the U.S., the Montreal Jazz Festival, and two European tours. David is also the managing director of Sundance Productions Inc, the New York office of BB Promotion GmbH, one of the leading firms providing high-quality musicals and live entertainment in Europe including international tours of West Side Story and The Harlem Gospel Singers. David is the New York representative for Scandinavia's largest theatrical stage rights agency, Nordiska ApS. He has negotiated international licenses and the foreign language live stage rights for many Broadway musicals, including The Addams Family, Flashdance, Hairspray, Spring Awakening, The Full Monty, Avenue Q (Helsinki), Wicked (Helsinki), The Last Ship, and Next To Normal. Additionally, he has negotiated licenses for Cats and Rock of Ages in Mexico. David speaks at Commercial Theater Institute and at the seminars on the international licensing of Broadway musicals. Stephanie Klemons (Director ) is a Drama Desk Award-winning performer, choreographer and director that has worked on the pre-Broadway and Broadway productions of Hamilton, In the Heights, Bring it On and If/Then . Her work can be seen currently on Broadway and around the world as the Associate and Supervising Choreographer of the smash hit Hamilton. In 2018 she directed and choreographed the Broadway Center Stage production of In the Heights at the Kennedy Center to critical acclaim. Following the Kennedy Center Production, Stephanie served as the director and choreographer of This Is Sadie, a New York City Children's Theater Production that she developed alongside Barbara Zinn Krieger. In 2020, she'll be directing and choreographing a re-tooled production of Little Shop of Horrors at Arkansas Rep as well as developing a new musical to helm for NYC Children's Theater 2021 season. Other choreography credits include Rock of Ages (PCLO and Drury Lane), and Frank Wildhorn's Zelda (Flatrock Playhouse). Commercially she choreographed content for Victoria's Secret, Vogue, Sesame Street, and the new Amazon Series "Hunters", and was the choreographer behind the viral "Time of Our Lives" Super Bowl commercial featuring Eli Manning & Odell Beckham. Mona Seyed-Bolorforosh (Music Director) is a Iranian-American Conductor, Pianist and Violinist whose work spans multiple genres including orchestral music, opera, musical theatre, film and pop. As a conductor, she has served as the Music Director of the Harry Potter Soundtrack Orchestra, Assistant Conductor of the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra, and Music Director of the project "Yo Soy Inmigrante". As a pianist, recent credits include Mean Girls (Sub, Broadway), Heather Christian's Oratorio for All Living Things (Pianist, Off-Broadway), Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella (Keys, National Tour), and Heartbeat Opera (Pianist, Assistant Music Director). She was a 2018 recipient of the Tibor Pusztai Conducting Award at the Berklee College of Music, where she studied composition and conducting.
