| When I saw dear Evan Hansen a number of years ago with Ben. I heard many people crying along with me understanding why he did what he did and how in the end it really helped all of them . I saw it again with his age appropriate successor and I felt nothing . I went to the movie with trepidation because of the reviews but I could not disagree with them more . Not casting Ben Platt in this movie would have been absurd as the time that 25 year old Barbra Streisand played Dolly a instead of the magnificent Carol Channing so talk about age appropriateness there . He is an actor and I certainly believe him as a character and ask for his hair usually I am taken aback when I see female stars wearing wigs and it seem to me that he was not wearing a wig. I would love to meet him and give him a big hug for making me cry again. Also what a wonderful score and Amy Adams and Juliane MOORE on top of it. As for the third string critic of the Times who cringed at the film, you are not only a bad critic but a heartless person. This film besides bein entertaining deals withe loneliness and depression of youth and the damage the internet plays in all this. The film should be a must for teens. So Ben Platt thanks and many hugs. |
