The British press have so far mostly been appalled, pointing out American lapses in the lexicon used in the libretto and myriad other insults. I don’t see how it could be comfortably embraced in the West End. And absent a crossover pop song - and it has no standalone number as marketing tool* - it’s a potential box office debacle. It’s also not cheap.
*Ghost at least had the interpolated Righteous Brothers; Uptown Girl doesn’t show up, its generic stand-in no substitute. |
