| I think I’d give that to Romeo and Juliet. | |

| I'd hardly expect their own publicity team to advertise it as "the SECOND greatest love story every told." (nm) | |

| I'm not sure anyone would call Cyrano "the greatest love story ever told" ... great though it may be and love story though it may be. | |

| I found the musical majorly disappointing, so I have mixed feelings about seeing the movie. I also have reached my over-it level with the story--if you take away the romantic trappings, they're three annoying characters! IMHO, of course. But, damn, that's a gorgeous trailer. |

| I felt the same way about the production: I loved the cast, but disliked the musicalization (and the samey-sounding songs, in particular) and some of the cuts to the text (the "nose" speech). The filming looks gorgeous... but I wish they were doing a straight production of the play. | |

| Interesting. Roxanne (Haley Bennett) and Christian (Kelvin Harrison Jr.) are shown singing in the trailer, but not Cyrano (Peter Dinklage). My pet peeve about period films: When actors don't sound like they're in the same time and place. Bennett and the actress playing her mother have accents that sound British, but Harrison and Dinklage sound so contemporary and American. (The art direction, however, looks Oscar-worthy.) |
