| Just caught up with this on Hulu. Honestly did not expect to pursue it past the first episode. But it's been a long time since I have laughed so much at a series. The writing (not by the stars) is so clever and funny, and Martin and Short rein in their shtick just enough to put it over hilariously. Gomez is a perfect foil for the two elderly characters. And New York theater actors are all over the place: Jayne Houdyshell, Jackie Hoffman, Nathan Lane, Adriane Lenox, and others I probably don't recognize. Some of the set pieces have set off "outright prolonged laughter", like Short's fantasy Broadway casting call for the murderer. OMG there I go again, just thinking about it. |
