|I think you are getting ahead of your assumptions a little. It seems clear to me (with a bit of reading between the lines admittedly) that there was a causal connection between his public action and their public reaction. He may or may not have engaged them before but I think your assumption about programming logistics at CTG does not fully take into account the pipeline of plays and playwrights that was pre-existing. I doubt their next season had congealed before this but I also doubt that they did not already have fairly deep engagement with those who are now expected to form the next season, particularly since they (and most respectable non-profits) have added a great deal of staffing focused on all aspects of DEI related initiatives. So yes it was in the works certainly but not necessarily with the extent and packaging that they have now announced. That's what Harris pushed through, whether everyone is in love with his approach. (It is well to remember that not everyone was in love with Rosa Parks's approach either.)|
