I wonder if, as new performance spaces are inevitably built in future or existing ones are renovated and updated, if the whole concept of a "dressing room" might go away, in favor of as many individual "cells" as the space will allow. I'm envisioning a small, closet-sized space with room enough for a dressing table/mirror and a small costume rack with probably just enough space to stand and change into your costume. There would still likely be a couple of traditional dressing rooms for stars.

The point being that each cast member would have their own tiny individual private space. Then questions of gender become moot.
