|This 1978 musical revue of the legendary jazz composer Eubie Blake showcases 23 of his songs, a dozen coming from ''Shuffle Along'' (1921).
The rest of the songs come largely from other shows from the '20s and '30s, so how was ''Eubie!'' Tony-eligible for Best Original Score (1979)?
At the same time, the '79 Tonys snubbed the wholly new scores for ''The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas'' and ''They're Playing Our Song.''
(Only a year earlier, ''Ain't Misbehavin','' a revue of Fats Waller, won Best Musical at the 1978 Tonys, but his tunes weren't up for Best Score.)
