As I remember, Olivier’s Othello was intentionally bold. And much lauded. It was daring, off-putting, and histrionic. An actor’s actor showing his stuff, investigating through his craft the nature of the Moorishness in the play. Very exciting.
It was not tame.
Do people really think Olivier was naive or racist of misguided? Do they, in their politically correct ivory towers, dare to suggest they should be instructing him?
I know I couldn’t say this publicly or I’d be cancelled, but these vengeful child-students and the pandering administrators should all be punished.
When may we again let freedom of expression?
