Howard Miller takes a look at Flying Over Sunset at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre:
Flying Over Sunset, the trippy new musical opening tonight at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theatre, boasts terrific performances, a splendid score, and outstanding choreography and design elements. Regrettably, most of the creativity is packed into a thrillingly original first act that is followed by a sketchy second act before petering out altogether, ending not with a bang but a whimper. Grade it "Incomplete" and urge its creative team to figure out where to go with it. |
