| which is the British pronunciation. It just kind of sticks out, but maybe that's possibly the point wanted by the director and writer, since probably the biggest plot point of the show is Mother's determination to get Father baptized. I wonder if this was the way this word was said on Broadway and traditionally in productions. It seems almost a stylistic choice, like the way all the gamblers in "Guys and Dolls" avoid speaking, if not singing, contractions of words throughout the show (with the exception of Sky Masterson, who does sing "I'll Know" and Nicely, who leads in "Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat"). |
