Taymor's "Magic Flute" at The Met - Why Holiday Fare?
Posted by: student_rush 10:39 am EST 12/15/21

Saw Julie Taymor's "Magic Flute" at The Met last night and was confused why they are billing it as "classic holiday programming" ... it's dark, cold, angular, and didn't have any immediate holiday plot or theme (other than general romance) ... ? I understand it has the whimsy associated with her puppets, but even that is a stretch to connect it to the holidays.

Any ideas?

(Seriously, this show is so dark and cold.)
