| With the very big proviso that no one knows, the science I follow suggests that we should expect a petering out of covid in 2022, just as we did with the Spanish flu after its omicron equivalent. At some point, we will have herd immunity, one way or another. It's just a shame that we had to sacrifice what may end up being a million lives to get there. The key thing about Omicron is that it appears not to be very serious for most people, and the next variant may be even less so. I agree that we will be situationally wearing masks from now on. Not always and not necessarily for covid. |
