Elsewhere, defenders keep explaining, "It's supposed to look cramped!" as if we didn't gasp the concept, and that creative intention alone dismisses the problem with the number's awkward presentation on GMA.
I'll take good advantage of your typo and say that I absolutely did gasp the concept. That may be the ugliest and most awkward staging for a musical number I've ever seen.
Including what looked like those 3 random dudes hanging outside the set, as if they were stagehands (the original Sweeney design came to mind, but there used much better). I never got a sense they were part of the show.
Partway through, I decided that even had this been a full company reprise of "I'm The Bravest Individual" it still would have been awful. |
