| RATTLESTICK PLAYWRIGHTS THEATER PRESENTS "ADDRESSLESS" BY PLAYWRIGHT JONATHAN PAYNE & CREATOR/DIRECTOR MARTIN BOROSS PRESENTED VIRTUALLY VIA RATTLESTICK PLAYWRIGHTS THEATER FROM JANUARY 8 - FEBRUARY 13, 2022 New York, NY (December 15th, 2021) - After two successful production launches, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater has announced the latest production from their season lineup titled "Addressless" by Playwright Jonathan Payne and Director Martin Boross. Addressless is an interactive, "real life strategy & theatrical game"(Martin Boross) in which audiences will experience and navigate the complexities and challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness. Originally founded and showcased in Hungary, Addressless has been reworked to speak to the growing issue of housing insecurity in New York City while aiming to shift the narratives surrounding homelessness, to promote a deeper understanding of homelessness, and to offer resistance against harmful prejudices associated with it. "Addressless" is the first virtual and interactive Off-Broadway production that requires full engagement from its audience members to make the story line progress. In order to successfully deliver this interactive concept, the audience is split into 3 groups where each group is assigned an 'avatar' and the audience will follow and make a series of decisions over the course of the game, such as: Will their character sleep on the street or sleep in a hostel? Will they ask people for money or try to find work? While some decisions might earn the character money, they may also take a toll on their life expectancy and physical wellbeing. Each avatar will be presented with several scenarios, dilemmas and or situations for which the audience must make either Decision A or Decision B to proceed to the next scene of the play. Each decision will lead to a new outcome and the end goal of this 'game' is to make mindful decisions that will secure permanent housing for your 'avatar' and lead to the betterment of your avatar's life. Rattlestick Playwrights Theater has collaborated with Hungarian theatre collective - STEREO AKT(founded by Martin Boross) for the global premiere of Addressless while also developing partnerships with community organizations Urban Pathways and Community Access. Their goal is to broaden the awareness of housing insecurity in New York City and to bring positive change to the subject matter.
