True.
The trouble is, masks are most effective if everybody wears them. At that performance of Cabaret, most people didn't, and the venue didn't make any attempt to encourage people to use face coverings (even the house manager could't be bothered to wear one). They ask for proof a negative test result from within the past 48 hours at the door, but LFTs are not 100% accurate and a test result is merely a snapshot of the moment you took the test. Once inside, their approach to Covid safety was incredibly lax.
Since the rules changed here last week, though, people seem to (finally) be taking it a bit more seriously. At Trouble In Mind at the National last night, pretty much everybody wore a mask - mandatory now unless you claim to be "exempt", which 99% of the time simply means selfish and stupid. |
