The Sound of Music - Julie Andrews

Julie Andrews was a guest on the Garry Moore Show twice and there was magic between her and Carol Burnett.. A TV special JULIE AND CAROL AT CARNEGIE HALL was created for them by the people connected with the Garry Moore Show the writers etc., this was in June 1962. Ironically, one of the segments was a takeoff of "The Sound Of Music" with Julie playing Maria character. Of course after Julie had previously worked for R&H, someone from the office saw that and it probably helped her get the part. For information, In 1971 they did another special "Julie and Carol at Lincoln Center. I was fortunate to get tickets to the dress rehearsals of both. They did a few other get togethers and in May 1989 they were to return to Carnegie Hall for a reunion show which was to be a benefit for Carnegie Hall and to be televised. But because of rehearsal scheduling between the two ladies and Carnegie Hall had problems, this was cancelled after 2,000 tickets were sold.

Julie had also played the nanny is MARY POPPINS winning the Academy Award and that helped.....
