That demo record is a find. I'd never heard of Ken Cantril before, but he was very good too. And Howes' American accent sounded flawless to me, at least at first hearing--I'm not sure Julie could have done it as well.

Lovely Sally Ann Howes was one of those people who, despite being fairly famous throughout a long career, never quite got all the recognition she deserved, in my book. (Carol Lawrence is another.) Besides Paradise Lagoon and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, she's also memorable in Dead of Night and the Vivien Leigh version of Anna Karenina--both made while Howes was still in her teens.

Now she'll have her chance to make heaven a more beautiful place.
