| You're asking for a degree of foresight, interest in public wellness, and commitment to audiences that simply doesn't jibe with modern capitalism and theater economics. See also The Broadway League under Charlotte St. Martins lowballing Equity on demands to hire more swings and understudies and now Broadway is going through daily closures that we're told are because there aren't enough understudies. Again, you'd think these shows would have seen it was in their best interest to hire more people so the show could keep going, but that just isn't how producers are conditioned to think. |
