I misread the post I responded to. (I thought they were saying that they were having to cancel for a second time; obviously they were/are still holding out a little hope.)

I continue to believe there will be a hiatus after the first of the year. Will it be universal and controlled (like it should be)? I don't know. Will there be a few shows still up the first week after New Years? I don't know. What I do know is (a) it's not going to make sense to run shows with omicron wreaking havoc and audiences vanishing and (b) more damage to shows and people will be done if this is not done in a managed way. Some shows that might survive will be forced to close, and a lot of employees will suffer because they will be unemployed and without any negotiated arrangements that could have been arranged in a controlled hiatus.

Bottom line: my reality remains the same as it has been. To say exactly where we are 1/1/22 is impossible because everything is changing so fast. We have a number of shows hoping to open again late next week. That is obviously based on an assumption that we are over the worst of this. I think that is delusional. But I reiterate I do not know. I am still holding out hope for some leadership. From somewhere.

If I were a person contemplating coming to New York to see Broadway shows the first week in January, I would not come. Hell, the Christmas Eve get together I have gone to for the last 20 years (-1) and was planning on for today did not happen so I am typing messages here as if it were Arbor Day or something. Oh well. I'll still have myself a merry little Christmas (emphasis on little) and I hope everyone else does too.
