I've been to eight or so shows since reopening. By far, this is the finest theatre staff working against covid. If feels like the producers have decided to do everything possible to keep the show open, and everyone is following their lead.
- The vaccine check was cheerful, not stressful, as at other theatres. But, compliance was the goal. In the lane next to mine, there was an issue with ID. The worker was listing all the options to comply. He was great.
- During the performance, maybe three times in each act, ushers came down the aisles scanning the audience for mask compliance. Well done.
- The woman doing heroic work running the men's room line at intermission included as part of her speech, "Please keep your mask on. We want to stay open." Amen, sister.
- I was there last Wed. mat. Jacob Dickey was on for Claybourne Elder and Tally Sessions for Greg Hildreth. Both nailed it.
- They've recently added more understudies, including Jeff Kready, husband of Nikki Renee Daniels, who plays Jenny. Obviously, that adds to the running cost. A digression, but Daniels understudies Bobbie. I'd love to see her go on, with her big, full voice.
I look forward to seeing it again. Great production and a staff making enormous efforts. |
