I agree with everything you are saying. Of all the shows on Broadway right now, Six has the best shot at recouping because its running costs are low, it's popular, and IMO it's a good show. Others on this board probably disagree. However, the future is very uncertain, and no one at this point really knows anything.

Broadway cast recordings, especially those released on CD, generally cost anywhere from $350,000 to $500,000 and rarely turn a profit. Over the last 25 years I would guess that Rent, The Producers, Hamilton, and possibly The Book of Mormon and In the Heights made money -- maybe a few others but I would have to do a little research before naming more shows. Six and Company already have cast albums on CD so it all depends on their productions or generous donors if they want to spend the money for a Broadway recording. That's hard to predict. The announcement of a cast album for the Caroline, Or Change revival was a very welcome and happy occurrence, just IMO.
