| Just funny how for years posters have come to this board talking about shows that should close up shop and move on. Now all of a sudden, it is a problem. Certainly didn't see such 'love' among the natives here for "Diana." So pick which way it's going to be and stick with it from here on out. And remember that. |

| I can only speak for myself, but most people didn't wish for Diana to close, only that it were more successful musical theater. You're conflating subjective critique of a production -- one of the main reasons we post here -- with some understood hope for closure. Most speculative discussion about Diana's fate was its likelihood to survive both poor reviews and exposure on Netflix. That's a nuanced debate about a late 2021 alignment of streaming platform performance and post-pandemic audience investment in new material. I wouldn't build a thesis on posting trends based on anything this fall, certainly not that show's unique history and pre-opening (and almost universally negative) reception in another medium, perhaps a first for Broadway. | |
