When I used the term hit show in reference to ATP, I was using the term in the technical sense, meaning a show that had recouped its investment. I thought ATP fit into that category, though I might have been wrong about that. (As a side note, ATP did get 11 Tony nominations and was selling a heck of a lot of tickets before the advent of COVID-19. And again, realizing that my memory may be faulty, I'm pretty sure that it was a Critic's Pick of Ben Brantley.)

So I'll stand by my usage of the term.

How much of it recouping had to do with the $10 million?

According to the person I know who is close to the show and who gave me the heads up about the show closing before it was public, very little if anything. The show had either recouped or was very close to recouping before Broadway closed down. I don't know all of the details but the $10 million was used primarily to pay for costs that were accruing during the shutdown, though I have no idea what they were. I bet Ryhog would know.
