| Kimberly Akimbo has a wonderful score ( a less successful book I think which is odd since it was written by David Lindsay-Abaire based on his original wonderful play) and I hope it does release an album but rumor has it headed to Broadway in the Spring or Fall so we might have to wait. I loved Justin Cooley btw and wish more use was made of Victoria Clark's voice. I did thoroughly enjoy the show however despite my quibblings. As for Assassins, I admire rather than like the score but agree that a cast album is warranted. | |

| I bought tickets for my Grandson, a freshman in college, and his friend. They loved Kimberly Akimbo. My grandson said he never laughed so much at a show, and his friend said she was crying at the end. By the way, they both found WSS boring. | |

| Agree on Kimberly Akimbo (I may have fewer quibbles with the book) and Justin Cooley (he's taking time out of his freshman year of college for this, so if it transfers, I sure hope he goes with it). | |

| I should clarify my remarks about the book. I didn't think it was bad. All musicals should have books as strong as Kimberly Akimbo. I just think that compared to the original play by Lindsay-Abair, the tragedy of Kim's condition gets shorter shrift. The addition of the ensemble and a very strong ensemble it is too both in writing and performance lessens her alienation and she did not seem to be as hesitant about accepting Seth's (Jeff in the original play) attention. The ending of the non-musical truly nade me cry. This not as much. Still I adored the musical and if it does move, you can be assured that I will be there to get my tickets. And I will listen to the album if and when it happens repeatedly. So happy I got to see this. | |

| You made me want to go read the play (or re-read it? I can't remember if i read it when it was new, but if not I was very familiar with its existence). I loved the musical but I can imagine what you're saying being even more in line with what I'd want for the story. Also I have to say I think the character of the aunt got too much time to shine and steal the scenes. I think as fun as that was, it created an imbalance toward a character who really isn't all that important outside of adding comedy and a necessary if weird plot point(s). |
