Let's assume you're right about their choreography, and based on some video I've seen on line, one link being attached, you probably are. But respectfully, so what? I don't think the point of the show (or of any similar show) is to put on a group of impersonators trying to replicate every dance step and every harmony. I think what you'd be looking to do as the director and the choreographer is to entertain the audience, to thrill them if possible, and having seen the show twice, once in DC before it opened in NY and again on Broadway, they succeeded. Both times I saw the show, people were dancing at their seats and in the aisles during curtain calls. You couldn't help but be amazed at how the cast was able to DO the moves you mention, e.g. the splits, etc. and sing at the same time. Since you haven't seen the show but seem to have appreciated the Temptations, I really recommend that you catch it on tour.
